Amazingly enough, Dr. Owen has held every dental position at PeaksView Dental at one time or another – he’s even been a patient of ours! Now, having gone from maintenance person to assistant to associate dentist and now co-owner, he has a unique appreciation for patient-centered care. What he enjoys most about being a dentist is connecting with people, and he always goes the extra mile to be a truly positive part of someone else’s life. In turn, we appreciate his caring, compassionate attitude, which is a characteristic that many dentists sadly lack in this day and age.

Why Did You Want to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Owen’s first career path was actually business finance, and he was working in the field as an intern when he decided to volunteer at a Mission of Mercy free dental outreach program in Roanoke. While helping out as a patient runner, a lady in passing gave him the sincerest “thank you” he’d ever heard for helping her through the process. At that moment, he realized that what he was missing from his finance job was emotional fulfillment, and soon after, he decided to start pursuing dentistry instead.
While it may have initially been a confusing decision to those who knew Dr. Owen at the time, he never looked back – and today, he’s happy to report that the oral healthcare field hasn’t let him down yet! He loves caring for amazing patients and building rewarding relationships.
Where Did You
Study Dentistry?
Dr. Owen graduated from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry (now Virginia Commonwealth University) with honors. After completing his dental doctorate, he also underwent a General Practice Residency in Seattle, hosted by the Swedish Medical Center and Seattle Special Care Dentistry. During this time, he learned a lot about advanced dental techniques like IV sedation, dental implant treatment planning, bone grafting, wisdom tooth extractions, caring for medically complex patients, and much more.
Dr. Owen has served as a past member of the Ethics and Judicial Affairs Committee for the Virginia Dental Association. He’s also involved with the American Dental Association and the Lynchburg Dental Society (past president).
Outside of the Dental
Office, What Do You
Like to Do?
A Bedford native, Dr. Owen is married to his beautiful wife Elizabeth. They have two beautiful children, Campbell and Cannon. Being an active dad and husband is his top priority outside of working hours, of course, but as for personal hobbies, he likes running, biking, hiking, and spending quality time on the river.
